HOW TO STAY YOUNG

A dear friend of mine sent me this list today and made me smile. Hope it makes you smiles! Have a great day!

1. Try everything twice.
On one woman’s tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph:
“Tried everything twice. Loved it both times!”

2 Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.(Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning:
Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever…
Never let the brain get idle. ’An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.’
And the devil’s name is Alzheimer’s!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud.
Laugh until you gasp for breath.
And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and
lots of time with HIM/HER.

6. The tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on. The only
person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. LIVE while
you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love: whether it’s family,
pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever..
Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health:
If it is good, keep it.
If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9 Don’t take guilt trips..
Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign
country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry.
You might not get
a second chance

My Small Daily Goal

I just found an amazing blog post. The post was in a blog called The Talent Code.  Today on my coach’s Facebook page, I found the link to his most recent post: The Power of Small Things.

I loved it. It hit really close to home with one of the goals I struggle with the most, money. As one of my earlier post points out, I suck with money. And I have some big amounts to gather this year and can’t see how I am EVER going to reach them. Thanks to this article, I will start a special daily project, it’s going to be called my Small Daily Goal. I am still not sure if I will share it in my daily blog posts, or in my agenda or on my Twitter account, but I think this will be a great exercise.

This will be a great addition to an already amazing goals program that I learnt while being a coach for Executive Success Programs. Thanks to this goal program, I have been able to lose weight, start doing triathlon and be more mindful with my actions. Will doing this bring me closer to my goal? Will spending money on this, bring me closer to my goal? Will taking this course, bring me closer to my goal?

I guess you have different tools in life, books, blog posts, courses, advise from friends and family. It’s all a matter of if you use these tools or not.

My first daily small goal: not buying any more sports gear today. Have some money left in my account, but need it for something else. And all day I have browsed athletics gear webpage. So the goal will be to not spend that money.

Where do you think this tip may help you? What goal do you struggle with?

I need something sweet

How many times have you been trying to be on a diet and have found yourself saying:        “I need something sweet”?

As if something sweet was as indispensable as a glass of water in the middle of the desert or a bite to eat after four days of being stranded in the top of a cliff?

I know about it. I know how it feels to think that eating something is a better idea, than sitting with that awful feeling in your gut that you might actually die, unless you put the fire out with something that is completely unnecessary!

I have made a small list of “notes to self” that have helped me fight the “I need something sweet” battle.  Hope they help you as much as they have helped me.

  1. Come to terms that you will NEVER need something sweet ever again. It’s a lie you tell yourself to justify eating something unnecessary.
  2. Also come to terms with the fact that you might not ever be comfortable again. That you will uphold your body and health NO MATTER WHAT!
  3. When you find yourself saying that  you “need something sweet”, brush your teeth or put on really glossy, thick, minty lip gloss.
  4. If after doing these things, you still find yourself putting into your mouth that one cookie, that seems harmful, tell YOURSELF the truth. Something like “I don’t need it, but I don’t have any will power and I rather be fat, than stay uncomfortable for one more minute”.
  5. Start with baby steps. One baby step I took 6 years ago: Take away all sweet drinks from your diet and change it for water. As of today, I only drink water, sparkling water, herbal tea and skimmed milk. I did not change anything else in my diet and I saw amazing results.
  6. If you are going to drink alcohol, mix it with sparkling water and lemon juice.
  7. If you are going to drink fruit juices, make them fresh and never after protein.
  8. Stay away from any foods that have numbers as ingredients.
  9. Last but not least, be compassionate with yourself. Understand that being compassionate with yourself is not always feeding your body what it wants, when it wants. Also be compassionate and honest with yourself when you fail. Recognizing your weak moments will only make you stronger and more honest. (thank you ESP for helping me understand this).
  10. Here are some of my earlier post about my struggle with food and diet. Hope they help. Post about no sugar diet, After Liver Detox Diet, My vending Machine StruggleResponsibility that comes with reaching your goals.

Happy Rambles

Hey guys,

I wanted to share a web page that I find most fascinating. Its called Happy Rambles. This web page is a great tool to help you take one minute of your day to think of what you are grateful for.

They send you an email, and all you have to do is reply it with what you are grateful for that day. I have done it since the 14th of October 2011. I have been grateful for spending time with my mom, my beautiful, loving boyfriend, getting my work visa, travelling, eating, the weather, the sun, a night watching Glee, and the list goes on and on. It’s so much fun to read back on what was going on in my life that day.

And let me tell you something, there is no faster way to get a little inspiration in a cloudy day, than browsing back though my own thoughts and then I just smile and keep going!

My favorite story

Hi you!!

With the objective of giving my blog more viral movement I have decided to start posting things everyday! Its a big challenge, but I think sharing is caring and I really like sharing my life stories with you. So here goes day two if this plan!

I leave you with one of my favorite stories. I wish to try and keep this in mind everytime I have to make a choice that I am struggling with. Hope you like.

An Old Cherokee Tale of Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee Indian told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, ‘My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all.One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.’
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: ‘Which wolf wins?’
The old Cherokee simply replied, ‘The one you feed.’

The question is “Which are you feeding today”?

Turning Thirty

Not using lip gloss anymore, don’t watch MTV while I am taking a shower or working on my computer, don’t like cheap dangly earing’s, make a conscious effort to not lie to myself about anything!, found a genre of books I like to read and have payed, for the first time, for a dermatologist to tell me I have to wear 100 spf sunblock every day.  These are amongst some of the things I have seen that have changed in my life in the past years. Things that have made, turning 30 very enlightening. I thought I was always going to wear and like lip gloss.
I am more confortable being silly and have no problem laughing out load, still love dancing to pop music like it was the last day of my life and rom-coms make me very happy. Still have not figured out the way to make lots and lots of money and have not managed to buy my first house. I know I am shit with credit cards and I should never be let near one, I think cake is a great excuse to eat the icing.
Thirty is  a big deal. I am not a young adult anymore, I am a full blown ADULT. I thought I would like beer and wine by now, but no. And I am very happy with the fact that I don’t have any children nor want them at this time in my life.
Its all been awesome and I thank EVERYTHING that has happened in my life, the good, the bad and the ugly that has brought me to the exact place where I am today and just wanted to share.
The amazing gluten free, home made icing, colorful like I like it, chocolate birthday cake!!

The end of one thing is the beggining of something else

Hi peeps! How are you?

In case you were wondering how it went with the yoga challenge, I DID IT!! so a big hoot hoot hoot for me and my 30 classes of hot yoga in 40 days!! I found out a lot of things about me and I fell in love with Hot Yoga! I am probably going to keep on doing it three times a week for as long as I can.

One of the many things that came as an effect of this yoga challenge, was I found out I have a liver problem and just came out of the dr. Will start a liver 3 week detox diet to get all my new weirdo symptoms out of the way (headaches, fatigue, yellow skin, nausea).

Here the PET of my last day of my yoga challenge and my PET of the beginning of my liver detox diet. Will let you know the PET of the end of the liver detox diet in three weeks.

Wish me luck!!!

AFTER THE YOGA CHALLENGE:
PHYSICAL:
I weigh 63 kg
Have more core strength
Eating 1400 calories a day on average
No more fractured hip :)
Stronger arms and legs
Yellowish skin tone
Very tired
Weird headaches
Low energy levels
EMOTIONAL
Excited that I finished in a successful way.
The last week was much harder because I started feeling really tired, getting weird headaches and looking very yellow.
Happy that it helped my stress fracture and that I was responsible with that.
Happy that I did not get another injury during this challenge.
THOUGHT
I think I kicked ass because 70 people started the challenge and only 12 finished it, including me!
